Register a birth with Central Bedfordshire Council
You must register the birth within 42 days of the child being born in the district where the birth occurs. You will need to book an appointment to go to one of our four Registration Offices to register the birth.
Registering a birth elsewhere in England and Wales
If it is is not possible to go to one of our Registration Offices, you can go to any Register Office in England and Wales to give information for the registration. The birth will not be registered there.
This information is sent to the office where the birth took place and once they have registered the birth a free short birth certificate will be forwarded to you.
If you wish to purchase a full birth certificate at your appointment, you will need to bring a cheque or postal order so that this can be forwarded to the relevant office.
